Trick or Treat!

COSTUMES and CANDY?  Are there many other combinations that can compete?  Being an actor, dressing up has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.  Even if I wasn’t performing on stage, I was in costume.  My Big Wheel and I had some serious superhero adventures up and down German Street in the 80s while I sported my Wonder Woman Under Roos or Casper the Friendly Ghost getup.

And I love candy.  It’s that simple.  I know I shouldn’t over indulge, but my sweet tooth craving has me caving long before you can finish the word “calorie”.

Is it any surprise, then, that I love “Trick or Treat”?  Two things I adore with none of the guilt or sideways “What is she wearing, now?” glances!  It’s so great being a part of a district that is always looking for opportunities to have fun and encourages a safe way to do so.  This year’s Downtown Business Trick or Treat is scheduled for Thursday, October 27th from 6PM-7:30PM.  And because of the support of the Mayville Police Department and DCERT, we will again have Main Street closed off during that time to provide the safest possible district for the children.

Come on down to Main Street and line up at either the Great 98 or Mayville Savings Bank and then enjoy collecting treats from many of the businesses in between.  Main Street Mayville will be hosting a costume contest at 10 S. Main, and the businesses will be competing in their own contest for best decorations.  We are also encouraging participants to bring non-perishable food items or personal care items that will be donated to the Mayville Food Pantry.  All of those who donate will be entered into a special prize drawing.

We have a fun evening planned for you and cannot wait to see your little ones all decked out for the occasion!  Please check out Main Street Mayville’s Downtown Business Trick or Treat Facebook event page or for a complete list of participating businesses.

(Shameless plug:  if you want to see me dressed up as a NUN, don’t miss the Marais Players’ production of “Drinking Habits” October 28, 29, 30, & November 4, 5, 6 on Main Street at the Mayville American Legion Post 69!)current-t-or-t-scan
